Labrador Antique Granite

Labrador Antique granite has a rich brown background with magnificent metallic blue mica crystals which shimmer when they catch the light. Labrador Antique is both one of the most beautiful and most expensive granites in the world. The geological term for the type of rock is Anorthosite1.

This granite is quarried in Sirevåg2 on the Western coast of Norway.

Labrador Antique is graded into one of two categories before it leaves the quarry, the main distinction between the categories is the clarity of the background:

1st Choice. To be graded as 1st choice the granite must have a brown background with clear crystals. These crystals can be blue to purple in colour. There may be small black spots or green, white, black, brown or red lines present on the slab. This grade of Labrador Antique is the most expensive (1st Choice Labrador Antique Granite can be seen in slab form below).

2nd Choice. To be grades as 2nd choice the granite will have larger veins and more black spots than first choice. It will still have the classic shimmering blue and purple crystals characteristic of Labrador Antique granite.

This beautiful granite makes a statement in whichever room it is installed. From worktops and cladding to solid granite dining tables, this stone always becomes the centre of attention. With its beautiful glimmering surface of blue crystals shimmering on a deep brown background Labrador Antique is a luxury granite which will hold both its value and beauty for decades to come.
