Kashmir White Granite

Kashmir White Granite combines the light airy appearance associated with marble with the toughness and durability of granite. It is a leucocratic granulite1 with an off-white background with light grey shading. It surfaces consists of small pink crystals in the form of almandine garnets2 and some dark brown biotite mica3 deposits. You can see these deposits in all the images on this page. It is also common to find some cream shading across the surface of this stone.

Kashmir White is quarried in the famous granite producing Tamil Nadu region of India (not the Kashmir Region as the name suggests).

This granite has a very consistent appearance under all light conditions. And most slabs of this granite are similar in appearance. Kashmir White is amongst the most popular of the white granites and can be seen used in a variety of applications.

This includes white granite dining tables and granite worktops. Kashmir White is excellent for lighting a room and making it appear bigger whilst still providing some warmth. Much like River White granite, Kashmir White is especially appealing when combined with light colours in rooms with plenty of natural light. Examples of colours which complement Kashmir White include kitchen units painted in white, cream, grey or any pastel colour (you can see how this great this looks in the kitchen two images below). And from a furniture perspective Kashmir White looks great combined with a number of materials including oak, ash, walnut and light coloured natural stone tiles.

As to which of these granites is best for a white granite dining table or worktops it depends on your own personal preference. If you want to go for the slightly whiter background River White granite is your best option but if you prefer a slightly warmer colour palette, Kashmir White granite is the best choice.

Other applications in which you can see Kashmir White used including architectural features such as columns, vanity units, sinks, luxury coffee tables, flooring and cladding.

Kashmir White granite has remained constantly in demand and in fashion for a considerable time now. This shows no sign of ending as it combines luxury, a light colour, homeliness and durability better than perhaps any other granite on the market.
