The Natural Stones Used In This Collection?
Each of the natural stones used for the construction of the dining tables in this collection have their own unique characteristics. Below we will go through each of these materials and give you a summary of their characteristics, so you can decide which material is best for your own dining room. These materials involve 4 types of natural stone and 1 composite stone. The natural stones are marble, granite, travertine and onyx. And the composite stone is quartz (although it does contain quartz it is not to be confused with the mineral).
Marble Dining Tables
Marble is a stunning natural stone which takes an excellent polish. Geologically, it is a fine to coarse grained metamorphic rock composed of at least one of calcite and dolomite. Marble is formed by low to high grade metamorphism of limestones1 or limestone breccias2 and conglomerates.
This natural stone has been a coveted construction material, which has signalled wealth and luxury since the days of Ancient Rome. And today it is the most popular choice of natural stone for the construction of a dining table. The reason for this is there are a wide range of colours available when it comes to marble and all of them contain an outstanding natural beauty. The most notable factors about marble are it benefits from beautiful veining patterns and takes an excellent polish. There are very few items of furniture which can elevate the luxury of your dining room like a marble dining table can.
The only reason not to consider this material is if your dining table is going to endure extremely heavy use and you expect multiple spillages. If this is the case granite would be a better option for you.

Granite Dining Tables
Granite is the best known of the plutonic rocks. Geologically it is comprised of quartz, potassium, mica and plagioclase feldspars3. Hornblende is also commonly found in granite. Although not geologically true granites gabbro, dolerites and larvikite’s are also marketed as granite in the decorative stone market. This is not a problems as all of these share virtually identical characteristics.
A granite dining table is great for those who want a balance between beauty and durability. Of all the natural stones granite is the most durable. It is suitable for a table which will be used extensively and it more resistant to spillages than other materials. If you want a pure black dining table, granite is a great choice as there are a number of granites with a uniform black appearance. Whereas other natural stones do not have options in a uniform pure black.

Travertine Dining Tables
Travertine is a beautiful natural stone which is often used in the construction of luxury furniture. Geologically travertine is a non-clastic deposit of calcium carbonate which has precipitated from supersaturated water. This can occur in limestone caves to form stalagmites and stalactites or by hot springs where bacterial action may also be an agent.
Travertine is a beautiful stone which can really accentuate the beauty of your dining room if used as a dining table. It has a beautiful deep texture which can look rather different depending on the cutting technique used. The available colours of travertine include natural colours such as Cream, Brown and Beige. And more exotic looking colours in Red, Silver and Yellow. A reason travertine is often chosen instead of marble is because it is generally more affordable and can compete very well with marble in terms of beauty.
Just like with marble if you think your table is going to endure heavy use and spillages, a travertine table may not be the best choice. If this is the case we recommend you go for a granite or quartz dining table.
